Victorine Müller (Zürich): Nachtblau 2

Poetry and Beauty meet in Victorine Müller’s performances. In recent years, this has often been in the form of huge transparent sculptures; wondrous creatures that seem to radiate light from the inside. The artist is a part of the sculpture during the performances, enchanting not only the night landscape around her, but also herself. For stromereien 09, Victorine Müller will bring a fantastical creature with her, seducing the audience into an nighttime dream.

Victorine Müller
lives in Zürich and on the road. She has been creating performances both nationally and internationally since 1994 and has been awarded various significant prizes, residencies and bursaries.
Victorine Müller primarily creates performances and installations with a focus on orchestrations and staging of the body and its energetic states. Her body is „her medium, poetic inspiration and ally“. Her work repeatedly explores the themes of decomposition of states or ideas of body and subject, leading to something else, something new. Silence is an important component of all her performance and installation art – the image, not the action, is the centre point – an image that stands still, lives, breathes. Time is given. Currents within the body, connections with nature, concealed and forgotten moments are made visible. The body is used to express, question, and emphasise emotions, After a while, the observer loses his expectations and becomes still. The image begins to engage him, to move him.
