Katja Schenker (Zurich): freie Enden

A rubber tube in the currents of the River Limmat, one end in the hand of the performer, the other end dancing in the rapids being pulled downstream. The performer sucks water into the tube against the river’s current. The energy she regains is a precious commodity.

Katja Schenker
studied comparative literature, art history and philosophy in Zurich. She works with plastics, drawing, video art and photography, and especially with performance art. As a silently operating protagonist, she transforms waste material and every day objects into new forms and states. In doing so, she exhausts herself physically and mentally and often reaches the limits of her own resilience. Her own physical possibilities define all her actions.
