About stromereien

Every two years, stromereien presents a packed programme of situational performance projects in public and semi-public spaces, offering an overview of current forms, trends, strategies and attitudes that occupy the cross-disciplinary interface between performing arts and performance art.

stromereien declares the ‘city’ to an object of research: how do artists react to the ‘city’ habitat? How do they construe, criticise or interpret the city in new ways?

stromereien is aimed at an audience that includes passers-by, local residents, tourists and bathers as well as those interested in the arts. stromereien looks to make contact with this heterogeneous audience in their every day lives and to touch them in some way. Through the contact with contemporary performance, artistic and associative spaces are revealed to a wide audience that in turn lead to new experiences in an urban context.

stromereien is committed to awakening both the public's interest in and appetite for the artistic process. During the festival, workshops, various presentations and talks are run parallel to the performances.
